How to Care for Feather Jewellery

If you’re wondering how to care for/repair your indie jewellery featuring feathers – because they’re starting to a look a little tired, Peacock or Pheasant Feather Jewellery and other feather accessories can be rejuvenated after prolonged wear ‘n tear by following these steps:

  1. Blowdry or dust lightly to remove any dust build-up
  2. Use a slightly damp cloth to wipe the feathers gently – Always wipe in the direction of the feather growth to maintain the shape of the feather
  3. Use a soft dry toothbrush to comb your feathers to maintain their proper shape
  4. If the feathers have lost their shape, when you make a cup of coffee/tea in the morning, hold aside any silver or leather and gently wave the feather/s over the kettle and the steam will fluff up the feathers again. Use your fingers to bring the feather back to shape if necessary
  5. If you need to store your handmade feather jewellery, store the piece loosely and with mothballs or similar pest deterrent.
